In early May 2013, the Chinese capital was once again shrouded in smog and dust. On May 6, Chinese environmental authorities said pollution was likely to linger at levels well above national and international standards for weeks or months, due to rising temperatures and the absence of the spring winds that had improved conditions in March and April. In the above cartoon, posted by artist Zhu Senlin (朱森林) to Sina Weibo on May 7, 2013, clouds of dust and pollution loom over the horizon as a line of passengers wait to board an airplane. One passenger at the back of the line says to another: “I’m not going anywhere. I just want to see a blue sky.”
